Improper fractions to mixed numbers

Convert a top-heavy fraction into a whole number and a proper fraction.

  • Divide the numerator by the denominator.
  • The quotient gives the whole number. Put the remainder over the original denominator.
  • Simplify the fraction part if needed. If the remainder is zero, the answer is a whole number.
