Finding the mean from a list
Finding the mean from a list.
- Mean = total of values ÷ number of values.
- Mean × count recovers a total. Combine totals before dividing by a combined count.
- Keep exact values until the final rounding step.
Example 1
Find the mean to 2 d.
Total Add every observation.
Mean Divide by the number of observations. Round only at the end.
Mean Round only this final value.
Example 2
Find the mean to 2 d.
Total Add every observation.
Mean Divide by the number of observations. Round only at the end.
Mean Round only this final value.
