Finding the total from one known pie-chart sector
Finding the total from one known pie-chart sector.
- A whole circle is 360°. Each sector represents the same fraction of the angle total and frequency total.
- Angle = frequency ÷ total × 360. Frequency = angle ÷ 360 × total.
- If one sector has both values, use it to recover the total. Check completed frequencies and angles add correctly.
Example 1
Sector A represents 8 students and has angle 60°. How many students are represented by the whole chart?
Example 2
Sector A represents 15 students and has angle 75°. How many students are represented by the whole chart?
