Distance from speed and time

Distance from speed and time.

  • Average speed = total distance ÷ total time.
  • Use compatible units before substituting.
  • Rearrange to distance = speed × time or time = distance ÷ speed when needed.

Example 1

A vehicle travels at 30 km/ for 1.5 hours. Find the distance.

Use s for speed, d for distance and for time. Keep compatible units.Substitute the given values and calculate.

Example 2

A vehicle travels at 31 km/ for 2 hours. Find the distance.

Use s for speed, d for distance and for time. Keep compatible units.Substitute the given values and calculate.
